Zecco doesnt get it

http://www.zecco.com/trading/PremiumTools.aspx

Great news.. Zecco is now offering Streaming quotes, just like many other providers. So why am I blogging about it? BECAUSE THEY ARE CHARGING $20 A MONTH!!!!!!!!

They charge for access to the Tax software as well.

You can get access to all of this software for free at Scottrade and many other brokerages. Dont waste your time at places like zecco who keep changing their fees and going back on offers, only to offer these "great new tools" at the "fantastic zecco price"..

What a fucking joke....

Two weeks ago 5/16/08, I posted a number if unresolved issues with Zecco (see below). The original post was eventually blocked by the zecco editor (for no apparent reason I guess except to probably preserve the status quo, not allowing everyone (except one) to respond to my post). I posted a similar post on another part of the forum and I received responses on that post. But the word "censorship" immediately crossed through my mind. (I hoped).

Today 5/26/08 I want to give everyone an update. I posted this update to share my experience and not necessarily solicit specific trading question or ask for specific account question. (This post was again censored and deleted by the editor)

As one of the main feature post by Jeroen Veth, CEO of Zecco suggest . "I believe sharing and communication is the essence of the evolutionary spirit and Investing 2.0 is the future of investing."

UPDATE

Item #1. Still un-resolved. ACH banking relationship still not showing up under the ACH page. A low priority for Zecco to fix, I was told.

#2. Penson login screen comes up after hours when market is closed. I was able to download transactions to MS Money during market hours.

#3. Real-time balance is still not updating correctly, after executing a position.

#4. ACH policy of 5-10 day hold is still in place. You still have to send Zecco a screen shot of your private banking info to release the ACH hold.

#5. Banner ads still abounds through out the website. I have not seen a single pop-up ad since activating pop-up blocker.

#6. Email responses from customer service is still slow, a day or two delayed. I did get a reply from margin@zecco.com asking for account number when I replied to their generic email margin call. I guess they don't keep track of email address and to which accounts these email addresses are related to. To date, I still never got a response from customer rep. spappas when I asked about the ACH issue.

#7. I did get a call from the Director of Customer Service assuring me that all these issues I mentioned did exist not only in my account but also in other customers accounts, and specifically to his own account too. He said he just started with Zecco a few months ago and didn't want to "rock the boat" so-to-speak. He provided guidance on some on a more specific issues such as buying power, etc. but overall was not able to resolve these issues in my post.

Recommendation: unchanged.

PS. I run the spellcheck again for this post and it still gives me a "Netspell Libraries not properly linked" error message, still..!!

ORIGINAL POST

1. The new upgraded ACH page deleted all my confirmed bank relationship links. It's been more than a month that a representative promised that this will be resolved. To date, nothing has been done.

2. When you click on Download to Money, the page goes to a Penson log in screen. It doesn't allow you to download any transactions that were executed.

3. On the Trading page, under Balance tab, the day's real-time balance, after executing a position, doesn't update correctly.

4. ACH transfer into zecco account requires a 5-10 day hold. If you want to release such funds, you have to email customer service a printscreen of your other online bank balance (defeating privacy purposes because other information is revealed). Whereas Suretrade's "MoneyDirect" allows you to trade on an ACH fund transfer in a day!

5. Generally the zecco pages are laden with pop ads and banner ads, slowing the navigation between pages, even when I have broadband connection speed!

6. Emails to customer service are not responded on a timely manner. One of their email took a week to respond. I never got a response at all from one of the rep.

7. Calls to customer service not up to par. On one occassion, while explaining my issues, a rep put me on hold without first asking me if I want to hold. The rep just abruptly said "hold on" while I'm still talking. Put me on hold for five minutes, then I hear a dial tone.

Zecco is still not up to par as compared with their competitors. The pricing model is ideal but is not the only measure of excellent performance and competitive edge. A lot still have to be resolved. Unless you want to wait, I would recommend to move all accounts to their competitor. Come back when all the above issues and others have been resolved.

FEDUP!

ps.. I tried to spellcheck this post and gives me a message "Netspell Libraries not properly linked"! :) Goes to show you....

i'm disgusted with the whole thing... i got hooked in (i have other trading accounts) by the original 40 free trade thing. almost closed the account, then hung in there. with the market doing all it's doing, i've had nothing but problems reaching them, trying to get them to stop doing margins on my cash account, placing selling orders instead of buying orders, oops sorry, no response to many emails, no response or half hour long waits for phone service and end up hanging up, no toll free, and the site not working at the worst time when making a trade would protect assets. the site is a trainwreck and so is my savings. i want to close the account, but everything is so hard to find or hidden on that site, i can't find that either. i say run screaming - i'm doing all my business with sharebuilder from now on. it's worth the commissions, fast transaction, and what you see is what you get. how do i close the damned thing? mary
